Meet the manager at Raised in Bristol at the Greenway Centre

We sat down with the lovely Robyn from our North Bristol nursery Raised in Bristol at the Greenway Centre and she told us a little bit about her time with Raised In so far since joining the team at the beginning of the year, what she enjoys about the job and what she likes to get up to in her spare time…

How long have you worked with Raised in Bristol?

I have been working with Raised in Bristol since January so just over 8 months! 

What do you like about your job?

I just love working with children. Watching them grow from babies into 4/5-year-olds – knowing I contributed to their learning and seeing their little personalities develop is so rewarding.

I love it when they start repeating little phrases or words that I’ve taught them within their play or conversations, it’s so lovely!

What made you choose Raised In?

I was looking for an opportunity to manage a slightly larger nursery than I previously had and when I saw that Raised in Bristol at the Greenway Centre had a vacancy I was excited to take on the challenge.

I was born in Southmead and have lived here up until recently, so I thought it would be super rewarding to play my part in the community and help local children grow and reach their full potential!

I was also drawn to Raised In’s caring and ethical ethos, toward both the children and the team, along with their support and involvement in the local community. 

What’s the most rewarding thing that’s happened to you at work recently?

Since I joined the team in January, almost every day has been rewarding knowing that the team and I are making a difference in the lives of the children and hearing such positive feedback from our families has been lovely. 

Robyn was born and raised in Southmead and was drawn to the community aspect of Raised In's being a social enterprise.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I’ve recently bought my first home so I spend a lot of my spare time at the moment stripping wallpaper, painting and choosing decor! I also love spending time with my friends & family, so often out trying new cocktail bars or restaurants! I have a little dog called Vinnie and we love finding new nature walks to explore too.

What Early Years Qualifications do you have?

I have a Level 3 Diploma in childcare as well as a Level 3 Diploma in management. I’m just coming to the end of my Level 5 course  Diploma in childcare.  I have other certificates like domestic abuse awareness, ‘prevent’, and all the necessities. I have a lot of SEN experience too which I find really interesting and even more rewarding! I’ve been in childcare since leaving school, starting an apprenticeship and working my way up since then.

Raised in Bristol at the Greenway Centre is located to the north of Bristol and a stone’s throw from popular family neighbourhoods of Southmead, Wesbury-on-Trym and Henleaze. With space for up to 62 children aged 6 months-5 years, this nursery is a welcoming home-from-home. At Raised in Bristol we offer play-led learning in a space that prioritises a nurturing environment with a focus on nature and nutrition as your children take their first steps towards school. 

We continue to welcome enquiries from families who wish to make use of the government funding entitlements for 2-5 year olds, and the new funding for babies (9-month-olds) from September 2024.
