5 things to do in Bristol with children under 5 this autumn half term

Autumn is a wonderful time to be in Bristol, and it's even more special when you have little ones in tow. The city comes alive with family-friendly events and activities, making it perfect for an autumn adventure. Here are our top five things to do in Bristol with children under 5 years old this half term…

1. Bristol Storytale Festival

The Bristol Storytale Festival is a great event to keep the little ones entertained. Held in various locations throughout the city with interactive sessions and workshops, it's a delightful way to introduce your kids to the joys of storytelling. 2. AutumnFest at Bristol Zoo Project

The Bristol Zoo Project is an understandable favourite for families with young children, and AutumnFest adds an extra layer of excitement. This autumn event at the zoo features special activities for little explorers, including pumpkin decorating, animal encounters, and a charming autumnal trail. Find conkers, jays and acorns, as well as cheetahs, giraffes, bears and the zoo's latest residents – Philippine spotted deer! Head to the website for more info.

3. Creepy Creatures at Bristol Museum and Galleries

The "Creepy Creatures" workshop is perfect for kids of all ages, a hands-on activity where you’ll look closely at their natural history collections, pick and mix parts of animals, birds and insects, then draw or collage these to make your own monstrous mash-ups. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

4. Children’s Scrapstore

The Children’s Scrapstore is a treasure trove for creative play and crafting. They offer various workshops and events suitable for kids of different ages, including toddlers and preschoolers. These events provide an opportunity for your little ones to explore their artistic side and create beautiful crafts using recycled materials from the store. 5. Windmill Hill City Farm

One of Bristol’s charming urban farms, located in Bedminster, a short distance from the city centre. This community hub offers activities for all ages. The farm is home to various animals, including goats, chickens, and pigs, and you can visit for free. Check out their Apple pressing and Halloween printing Autumn workshop on Wednesday 25th October from 1–3pm and is £3 per person. The Farm Cafe is well worth a visit too and serves a tasty range of dishes made with produce from the farm.
